EMC Klubben: PCB design og fejlmekanismer - Aarhus

Dear EMC club member

This is the invitation to June’s EMC club meetings entitled “PCB design and failure  mechanisms”.

June meetings are held partly in English and Danish.

The meetings take place

  • Monday, June 17, 2019 at 09.00 to 16.00 at FORCE Technology, Agro Food Park 13, Skejby, 8200 Aarhus N.
  • Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at 09.00 to 16.00 at FORCE Technology, Venlighedsvej 4, 2970 Hørsholm.

The deadline for registration is Wednesday, June 12, 2019.

Start of the day, we are happy to present Associate Professor, PhD in Power Electronics Mr. Huai Wang. Huai will present the activities at AAU regarding reliability and failure mechanisms on electronics, with focus on power electronics. Furthermore, Huai will briefly present ongoing activities at AAU regarding conducted emission requirements in the frequency range below 150 kHz, i.e. from 2 kHz og 9 kHz and up to 150 kHz, where design of power electronics plays an important role.

From Würth Elektronik, Field Application Engineer Mr. Henning Bomberg will be presenting EMC components and the web-based EMC filter design tool REDEXPERT. The capabilities of the tool and the practical application of the data comprised in the system will be presented, and we will try to do some basic testing of mains filter PCB mock-ups. Will we reach the design goals?

FORCE colleague Henrik Einshøj Jacobsen will approach PCB design from the electrical safety viewpoint. The important parameters from the electrical safety analysis will be presented, and Henrik will illustrate what the specialist is looking for on the PCB, and he will explain why the parameters are important for the continued safe operation of the equipment. Some of the important standards and specifications will be described.

Per Thaastrup Jensen will refresh some of the more basic EMC properties of the PCB and will discuss in dialogue with Henrik Jacobsen how the influence from the PCB can affect the EMC properties of the construction.

As part of “Standard-news”, we will hear the latest news from the CENELEC committee TC210 regarding CE marking requirements and from the TC77B activities on the test standards IEC 61000-4-3 and IEC 61000-4-6 (radiated- and conducted RF immunity testing).

We hope to see you at one of the meetings.
